I would not disagree with what anyone says about polls but I think most people are missing the point here.

It is the juxtaposition of the basic support for the Parties compared to what it would be if Mrs T (with people remembering her in her prime of course) were to be Conservative Leader.

People have been bombarded with tv coverage of her over the last week and have been reminded of what she achieved for this country. They see a woman of strength and conviction who rescued the economy and compare that with the rather weak leaders the Parties have today struggling with another financial crisis. It shows that the torrent of abuse, hatred and misrepresentation of her have fallen on deaf ears.

It also shows Cameron that weak consensus politics driven by focus groups does not get the best electoral results in times of crisis.

By the way - did anyone else see the brilliant documentary, Thatcher the Revolutionary? It really demonstrated just what Mrs T was up against from a cosy alliance between the 'Tory old guard' and the left who were happy for the old status quo of managed decline to carry on. It demonstrated conclusively that it was she who was on the side of ordinary people and the vast improvements made to all our lives.
