never heard of the book but can remember reading a report a few years back where the public were asked what they associated with each part of the country.
kent was a seperate entity and the answer was chavs which surprised me greatly, i only really know east kent and that doesn't really fit.

The intellectually lazy adore stereotypes as it means they can swan off and do something else rather than thinking or researching
Glorious examples include
Media, police and political handling of the Hillsborough disaster in particular and football supporters in general
Media and police attitudes to NEETS
Media and police attitudes to non mainstream "tribes" such as bikers, skinheads, punks etc
Attitudes towards incomers to the UK
Western attitudes to Muslims
