  Kent Police stopped miners (and any one who looked like a miner) from travelling through the Dartford Tunnel and threatening them with arrest if the went through as they were presumed to be going to support colleagues in other coal fields even though the nearest mine was about 100 miles away. This was an infringement of civil liberties and part of the process of the politicising the police which Mrs Thatcher began and, which has disgracefully been continued by subsequent PMs (see the way Blair used them to block protestors from the Chinese leader when he visited).
