they will have their work cut out, only 9 months to go.

a bit unfair mr norman, john never slacks and is a great trier, in fact i heard someone say only the other day that he is the most trying man in dover
With the best will in the world...I do not think JHG is cleaning up Dover by himself...
Even tho' that is all he can say at the moment...
He surely must have the help of Vic Matcham
But I can keep a secret.....

Why keep it a secret John - who made that decision ?
Almost every event or initiative in Dover turns out to be a secret - be proud of what you are doing; let everyone know that the Town Council are actively working to improve Dover Town.
But - why is it felt that it is better that the (Town) Councillors or officers work with the Town's businesses - don't you know that they mistrust politicians, even at Town Council level ?
You should be facilitators, not doing the actual work.

I guess it is a secret because the plans are sorted but not everything is not signed on the bottom line, does it really matter that John is unable to tell us all.

Pardon my cynicism but often the secret turns out to be.........that there was nothing to keep secret.

Roger DDC and DTC are working on this along with other agencies if you want to know more see if Paul Watkins will tell you as at our briefings it was stressed that we were NOT to reveal the plans,Roger you should know we are unable to discuss things in the 'Pink'.
Some of the work is being done by the Olympic Committee and DHB.I am sure when ready it will be revealed to us all.

I'm not talking about Olympic (LOCOG) stuff John, I'm talking about the efforts of DTC on their projects to smarten-up, clean-up and make the Town more welcoming - as part of their "Ambition Plan" and 2012 and beyond.
I appreciate about the joint working on the TIC and the money DTC have put into that project, but there's much more than that required to move Dover forward - turning it into a tourism destination for one.

Yes well done for re-alighting the thread Howard as I forgot all about it in the end..but yes it is interesting to see DDC in the shape of Paul Watkins congratulating DTC, as they are not always in harmony as I understand it. See Paul's quote on the frontpage re that.
Also they are expecting huge levels of local popularity and are considering making it an all ticket event... gadzooks!...is Kelly Holmes coming!!??
yes

When you look again at that picture in post 12 it all looks very exciting. It would be great to see the seafront heaving like that again...
It was a very good day when they brought in the Olympic Flag...lots of exciting pictures. Here are two of our forumite guys working the seafront, Stewart Dimmock and Nigel Collor...marshalling they were or stewarding or whatever the term is..
I think it was taken the day concerned. Nigel was a former runner on track one time I understand.
