Mind you if damn stupid vanity projects like this hadnt been handed out them maybe nothing would be closing
we need our Hospital to be `Fast Tracked. I hate to say this again we are not getting a new hospital what we are getting is something a little larger than the health center Its could a Polly Clinic, Ask Charlie to tell the truth he knows, members of staff at Buckland have been warned that if they speak to any member of the press there out of a job we have all fallen into the NHS trap were what ever we have said or asked for in the past they have ignored everything doing just what they wont. What we need to do is to tell them to upgrade Buckland Hospital as there is nothing wrong with the building and most of the infrastructure is in place and it would be cheaper to upgrade than to build new. then we could have a Hospital for Dover.

We will never get what we all think of as a hospital with beds for over night stays, we will only ever get a glorified Health Centre.
I wish they would get on with providing whatever we are going to get, as I have said before travelling by public transport to Ashford or Margate for a ten to twenty minute outpatient appointment is just plain stupid and even cruel in some cases.

Is there something in doctors surgery's that say you can now cherry pick the Hospital you want to been seen at well if we all choose Buckland and refused to go to the Big 3 just maybe it might start to sink into the heads of these that people want to be treated local to were they live.We wont know till we try.

yes you can choose your hospital but it is limited to whether it normally carries out the procedure you need.
It costs a fortune to get to out patients appointments. I am lucky in being able to access the Volunteer Service but even that costs over £25 to and from Canterbury for a very brief checkup and "see you in xxx weeks". I would willingly take the bus but with my particular health problem one gets very weary and I am not sure how I would stand up to bus from here to Pencester and from there to K & C and back again and worry about my husband, also not in best of health, having to heave my wheelchair around, but nevertheless think we will have to try it. I just cannot understand why at least one clinic for each speciality cannot be held in Dover. What are we going to do about blood tests if they close Dover? My GP doesn't do them and my heart sinks at having to do the round trip to Canterbury just for a blood test. I am lucky in that I am still (fairly) young but I worry about how older and more frail people cope with this hiking round the countryside. If you are lucky enough to be in good health it is hard to realise just how draining a simple trip to the hospital can be.
Sorry, I don't mean to whinge but I really think the NHS is going to hell in a handcart as far as this kind of thing is concerned.

Diana, you are not whinging at all just stating facts. BTW you can get a blood test done in the Health Centre, if I remember correctly it is very early afternoon on weekdays.
It is assumed by the faceless bureaucrats in their posh offices that we all have cars and do not mind having to spend money and or hours getting to hospital. There should be clinics in Dover for ALL outpatient appointments with consultants, they should come to us not us to them.
I am just fed up with the whole ridiculous situation we have in this area.

It is high time "health services" started to recognise that they are, indeed, services with customers. Most of the private and third sector organisations are way way ahead of the game and practice proper customer care. It isn't hard: customer focus, courtesy and a bit of organisation.
This is why we are edging rapidly towards differently funded health care - and the workers left clinging to the wreckage will simply continue to whinge........
By the way, if I am to have real choice, I choose a decent local hospital to which I and my family can travel without undue stress and expense and which meets my medical needs effectively and with courtesy.

REG;
Well done for highlighting the need to keep up the fight for decent services for Dover,
please don't feel angry with our barryw's comments on the political side of things, we all know there are a lot of movers and shakers from many political and non political backgrounds that have the same aims.
hopefully reg you can look to up the pressure on health authority and if i can help in any way please don't hesitate to ask.
