When I first went there in 1968 (no that's not quite true, I had my tonsils out in 1950) the place was infested with cockroaches. I remember Mr Divers the hospital engineer merrily stamping on them!

When my son was born in 1974, there were cockroaches on the ward floor every morning and the nurses didn't even stamp on them, just ignored. Conditions were then very bad.
