  Jan, part of our Portas bid was to recognise that for millions of visitors the first impression of Dover is the derelict buildings we're discussing. Walk from the seafront, drive down the M20 thats what you see. They are renovating the buildings up to 2m in height and decorating tastefully, no life changing thing but a big improvement and real work experience for the students.
  
  I'm afraid I can't comment on what DDC should or shouldn't do, but you can probably guess my view. As usual ordinary citizens have the will and ability to achieve things useless politicians don't or can't.
