We are expecting a good variety of military vehicles again, but I expect we may have fewer living history groups this year. Due to the 65th Anniversary of D Day there are larger competing events moved to our weekend being held elsewhere on the same day. That's said we do have some new attractions including vintage children's rides and a wartime Emergency Post Office van. Other old favourites will be with us as well.
We still have tickets for the Saturday evening dance with 'Sticky Wicket' at Dover Town Hall from 7.30pm. Basket food available but must be pre-ordered.
Tickets are £15 pre-ordered or £20 on the door.
If any of you who I dont know come along to the weekend please make yourself known to me, I will be dressed as a Royal Navy Officer.

Not at all, he looks every bit the naval sea captain extraordinaire, master of a nimble and fleet destroyer at a guess, chasing those ghastly sea pirates oe'r the briney near and far.
Should be a great weekend over in Pencester. Always great opportunities for the twinkle and keen eyed photographers amongst us.
"I'll give that an F8 so I will " said one enthusiast last year drawing attention to his box brownie.

Hi all....
Just back from the Park, been there since 0700 setting up. Had some delays as the security fencing was 4 hours late but all sorted in the end.
Rather sun burnt, I am looking like a belisha beacon at the moment.
It will be a great couple of days and we have some superb entertainment lined up - watch out for the burlesque!!!!!
The USO area looks incredible, lots of cammo and a great show lined up for you.
Dont forget its all free, a whole weekend of totally free entertainment.
We will be collecting for Help for Heroes, The Royal British Legion and the Wings Appeal will also be there.
I hope to see you all there!!!

Sincere good wishes for a successful weekend Barry and Alison. I know you and others have put many hours of hard work into organising this week-end.
We've bought our tickets for tonight, so looking forward to the whole day and evening.

I managed to get down there for a little while today and what a show!! It was packed with people and the whole park was buzzing with activity. Barry you did look good in your uniform but your sunburn did look sore!

I would have come and said hello but you had a posse of people round you so I didn't but well done to you all - looking forward to tomorrow too. I'm hoping to bring my daughter and grandaughters down too. Didn't see Alison unfortunately but I'll look out for her tomorrow. Good luck with the dance tonight, what a lovely evening you've got for it.

There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

Thanks you all for your kind words and for coming.
I am just about to soak in a bath to loosen my aching limbs before going to the dance.
Yes, we were packed out with visitors with a steady flow all day from 10.30am only thinning out around 4pm. All exhibitors and traders were very pleased with the day and are looking forward to tomorrow.
We will have a huge crowd first thing for the drum head and I recommend people coming to the park for it. As soon as the service is over we will get going with the Swingtime Sweethearts.
Dickie Lines will also be re-appearing and we will be joined by a French choir and the Clover Sisters.
We have a real find with Dickie Lines. His routines included George Formby, Noel Coward, Jimmy Durante and the camp German officer fro 'ello 'ello.... he really is not to be missed....
The big question of course is - will the Royal Marines beat the Air Cadets in the tent competition this time? and to think the Air Cadets had three girls in their winning team, red faces on the Marines....
A great day was had by all and I think tomorrow is looking as if it might be better. I am told that we can expect more vehicles arrinving tomorrow than we had today.

A very smart Commander BarryW there in his 'whites', I heard that ladies are queuing up in their droves ready to cool down your sunburn with natural remedies

Sorry I couldn't be there as I had just returned from my Father's funeral

As a keen student of WW2, I also paid close attention to the USO burlesque dancer. Kinda brought it home to you what it was all about.
Have put forty photos of the events on saturday on my fotopic site below. Barry had demoted himself from Commander to Lieutenant by the time I photographed him!
