I have been informed that there has been a rumour started that this weekend is not going ahead. This is nonsense and, I believe, has been started maliciously.
We have made some changes due to financial constraints and some people are reacting badly to it.
It will still be a free weekend of 1940's style entertainment free for all attendees to the daytime event.
This year we are working alongside the USO Field Concerts which will further enhance the entertainment.
The Swingtime Sweethearts will be appearing, Astor will be performing part of their Blitz production, The Clover Sisters will be there,we will have Lindyhop dancers though a different troop and new acts.
On Saturday night the dance will feature 'Sticky Wicket Swing Band' at Dover Town Hall. The ticket price is £15 with advance ticket orders are now being taken, tickets on the night will be £20 at the door. Basket meals available for £5.50.

I must add something.
I was sent a link to another forum on which this rumour was mentioned and blame was laid on 'a new member of the committee' and the Council.
I want to go on record as saying that both DDC and DTC have as always been most helpful and have co-operated in everything that has been asked of them.
The 'new member' has also been unfairly mentioned. It is this member who we can thank for still having an event in Pencester Gardens.

Hi Barry,
That is so strange - I've just got home from work where we were talking about the Hellfire weekend! My driver today asked if we knew if it was happening this year and I said I would ask you - how weird is that lol
Yesterday my husband and I went to the 1940s weekend at Dungeness which was very good. We didn't know it was on we just decided to have a drive down that way. There were several old vehicles, an ambulance, jeep, and old motorbikes. Also attracting a lot of attention was a little car called a Meschersmitt (not sure of spelling!) All in all it was a lovely day, even the staff on the RH&D railway were dressed in the clothes of the time. I was so glad I had my camera with me.
Looking forward to your show now, let us know when it is won't you

Very pleased to hear Hellfire Corner weekend is going ahead as normal, it is always a brilliant event and much credit to Barry and his associates.
Re Jacqui's mention of the Messerschmitt bubble car, we carried a squadron of them together with numerous American classic cars across to France one trip last summer, presumably going to a rally. Here are some of them going off in Dunkerque:

Hi Ed,
This is the one I saw yesterday, looks like the same one in your photo, wonder if it is.
Barry, I just realised the dates are in the thread title, I didn't notice that before - silly me!!
Sorry about that, and thank you.

Barry as you know the DCAL team are always willing to support the event. If you would like us to attend give us a shout.
For anyone who has not been, please do. Our DCAL girls always have an absolute blast, and it is a super community event which appears to be getting bigger each year.
