Two teenagers have been arrested and two laptop computers recovered after a break-in at a Dover school.
Kent Police was alerted to the burglary by an alarm going off at St Richard's school in Castle Avenue just before 9.30pm on Monday (3 September 2012).
Officers responding to the alarm call spotted people climbing over a gate to the school and two laptops were found nearby.
The police helicopter was called in to assist in a search and two young men were stopped in Old Charlton Road in Dover and arrested on suspicion of burglary at 10pm. - 4 September 2012 15:19189970Panorama last night was about the slow response times of emergency vehicles..Police, Fire etc. And Dover itself was mentioned in not terribly glowing terms. But things seem to be getting better despite the considerable cut in revenue to these services.. as mentioned on the programme. All across the country slow response times have seen burglars leg it in some safety.

- 5 September 2012 06:36190056I can't understand about the negativity on the use of helicopters. I doubt very much that the police knew it was laptops that were stolen.
It was a serious crime - breaking into a school and I think they should be congratulated on using it and catching the felons and recovering the stolen goods.
I would also think that it sends out a good, strong message to potential and actual criminals.
Yes, the use of a helicopter is not cheap, but those 2 arrested, won't be progressing their crimes for a while.

5 September 2012 07:27190069When the alarm went off the police were not to know what was being stolen as Roger says, also the burglars could have trashed the place causing many thousands of pounds worth of damage. As I said before I just wish the helicopters were quieter.
