Has spring sprung
- 14 February 2011 17:4692599Now the lambs are appearing the buzzards are back here in sheepland!
Up to six have been flying along the ridge on the nature reserve between Coldred Hill and Temple Ewell today, there are four in the first pic if you look carefully (one behind the tree). Pics not too detailed I'm afraid as I was on the other side of the valley.

------------------------------------------------------------------- - 18 February 2011 00:2993092I didn't have time to post details earlier - he's a merlin, the smallest British falcon though the females are about a third bigger as they do most of the hunting. You can sometimes see them in the wild around here but it was great to see one so close up.
While I was photographing it the owners dog, a lovely Wire Haired Vizsla, was eating the remains of a sandwich in my jacket pocket, he was BIG

If any of you twitching forumites are out and about going Canterbury way today there are currently five buzzards displaying on the ridge above the old Stonehall colliery in Lydden, quite a sight. On past experience once they are there they'll stay most of the day - well worth stopping off for a look or even coming out for a walk on the nature reserve.
