But despite that slight fly in the ointment..the idea being spouted is that we have lost many of our top names to foreign owners and there is some concern being expressed in some quarters that its just getting too much. Our recent example of Cadbury's leaps to mind...foreign owners make this and that guarantee, promising to keep jobs protected and in no time at all..redundancies.
But yes re further into foreign hands. M Al Fayed appears, as far as I know anyway, appears to live here so is and would be concerned about the impact his actions would have on a prime British establishment. But Qatar Holdings, an anonymous conglomerate from obscure location, could turn it into an arabian bazaar for all we know.
However Al Fayed aware of this situation and aware of the possible flak, released a statement over the weekend, saying that Qatar Holdings have guaranteed to carry the business on in full British tradition. But...
