08:4068400Shock horror, I have often in the past been to conferences where they accomodate me in a twin room with another man!!! apparently it costs the hosting organisation less to do so. I did draw the line once when the person I was expected to share with turned out to be camp and managed to get my room changed, sadly not into the same room as the attractive and only woman at the conference....
So what if William, during an election campaign, shared a twin room with his aide. It makes financial sense in respect of election expenses even if open to misinterpretation in this rather excitable age. Note that it was a 'twin room' - not a double.
He is married to the beautiful Ffion and while that in itself doe not mean anything, there has never been any suggestion that William is anything but a heterosexual man and Guido's revelations prove absolutely nothing and so what anyway.

11:0668420As my hero Judge Judy would say - I don't give a rats behind what someones sexuality is - it does not affect their brain or anything else as far as I'm concerned. I have a couple of gay male friends who are extremely successful businessmen as well as being wonderful friends.
In this day and age gay people are for the most part accepted and not frowned upon which is as it should be. To insult them or criticise them because of what they are is no different to rascism.
Media should stick to the news - not tittle tattle and trivia.
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

11:1468422the problem is not one of his sexuality as such, those suggesting that he is gay are saying that he is being hypocritical.

11:4068426HOWARD
Your correct(again)
and lets be fair to willy, he has said theres no truth in these allegations at all.
So it's not a knock on the gays,
This is the media trying to sell papers.
I seem to recall similar postings I made some time ago on parts of the local media.
Funny how situation changes, and when I raised it before it was fine to attack everyone.
Now it's not.
Not changed my view

15:4368470Here is a link to a brilliant article about this matter that is well worth reading by anyone who has even the slightest interest in the media or politics. Says it all really and we then have to examine exactly why we are joining in this press feeding frenzy and question our own attitudes.

19:1568498the media get blamed for all ills, if they fail to report something they get slaughtered.
the press only publish what their readers want.
the red tops go for stories about showbiz people or "celebrities", the mail and express give middle england their daily hate story about scroungers or immigrants and the broadsheets give their readers something to think about.

20:5468513That's a bit simplistic Howard, even though it just about hits the spot. My own view is that there are some principled hacks, but so few it does not mitigate the scum. It is only when you, or someone close to you, has experience of the nasty and totally careless approach and tactics of the press that you realise how unsound all the news actually is! My own experience supports this, in that in the absence of real facts facts of any sort are added and any challenge to this is met with the advice that to pursue it is to expect trouble and it is less painful to simply step away. I certainly see the press differently these days.........

21:0068514totally disagree bern, newspapers have to sell they are not charitable institutions.
market forces come into play, they have to supply their customers with what they want to read, much the same as a shop supplies the needs of its customers.
we are lucky to have an almost free speech, if someone is wronged they have the right to go through the courts to gain recompense against a paper that incorrectly says that they have been naughty.
