Just to let anyone who may receive an email from me that it is probably not. It seems that one of those cretins who love the internet so much they have to try and kill it has hacked into my account and sent out a spurious message with attached virus. If you do receive anything from me please delete it straight away, do not open any attachments. I have, of course, taken steps to correct it.

all getting to be a bit of a mystery, somewhere between an agatha christie story and cluedo.
which one of us is it?
could be the vicar with a starting handle in the drawing room.
Or the philanthropist with the cheque book in the conservatory?

when you look at the people that are copied in on the scam it is very worrying.
the town council, kent highways and our honourable member amongst them.

Chris, probably telling you something you already know, but do you have a good antivirus and anti-spyware programme, plus automatic updates activated and your firewall turned on? You might be able to get rid of this malware although threats are increeasingly good at hiding themselves from detection.

I actually had three of these all at one go. You always fall for it initially...I thought to myself that Chris had been busy..and was wondering what it was all about. And then you click on the things and straight away you realise they are dodgy. Sadly it appears to be the way of the world these days.
Sigh!

This one seems to have only gone for my email contacts, which is in itself worrying because it implies somebody we know, or at least knows me well enough to hack into my account. Hopefully it has been cured now and i hope the anti-virus will prevent others.

It implies that you have clicked on a link in an email or a web page which has caused your machine to download a piece of malware which enables someone else to control either your machine or your email account. Highly unlikely to be anyone you know, I noticed a link to a Polish website in the rogue email. Anyone clicking on that link will suffer the same fate unless they have the best Internet security tools.
