23:4638989Well Howard it was either that or me chaining myself to the toilets .I might have only worn a hat to cover my modesty .

Seriously, if true this is good news for locals and tourists alike. What we'll have to wait and find out is where the money will be clawed back from instead. Something somewhere is going to have to give... The toilet closures were probably just the first casualty at the beginning of a very difficult financial period for DDC.

08:5539000Yes this is good news..common sense prevails. It is also an acknowledgement to the weight of public opinion. I guess this is a temporary measure while a more solid solution is being sought.

11:1439012Having been extreme in my views over the closure of the toilets, I'd like to say a word of thanks to Paul Watkins if this good news is true. All along, I have been advocating the reopening of the toilets whilst the wrangling over finances are sorted. If this has finally happened, then common sense has won the day, and a belated word of thanks is due; I rather like Cllr Andrew Richardson's comment in the Mercury today when he said that all the public wanted was for the Council to "behave like adults." How very true, and if that's started to happen, then thank you to Paul W for that......
The inquests can start later; in the meantime, I'm just glad that the public are no longer pawns in a game of Council chess.

11:1539013Now DDC and DTC have about two months to sort out a permanent solution.

18:2139027Yes Brian, Nigel is declaring them open and will cut the ribbon, he will then make a speech about how caring the Tory controlled council is and how much they care about the disabled and elderly. He will then christen them, having consumed four pints of real ale prior to the ceremony.

11:0639067having just waded through the councillor speak on the "united" thread, it appears i have been giving out wrong info and that the toilets are not reopening immediately.

18:4339093That is good news,BUT they will not be geting a thank you from me,they should not have closed them in the first place, and again this will not save them it will still cost them alot of votes, And Mr Collor should still stand down from his ward.

19:4739104At the town council meeting there was no mention of the toilets opening today/tomoz or anytime.
Theres a lot of detail to be sorted, once the District provide the full information.
but one person could change all this by opening the toilets whilst talks go on,,,,,,,,,

19:5139106Yes they will be open tomorrow .I think the thought of me being chained to the toilets was too much to bare .Did i say bare .Jokes apart the DTC and DDC have communicated and as the motion said which all councillors voted on the toilets can now be reopened .
