'Jovial Graham on the right'
The legendary Mr Graham Tutthill has retired from the Dover Mercury and we are all very sad to see him go, see tomorrow's edition for the full story. Graham has given Dover terrific coverage over the years and I'm sure he will be missed by many across the wider community. Always a very pleasant and very local newshound to deal with, he will certainly be a hard act to follow.
I am sorry to see him go, he has always been so kind to us over the years. I wish him all the very best in his retirement.

rather taken aback, graham is part of the fabric of dover and always puts an article together in a highly professional manner.
i would imagine that he has a lot of things to do now that he didn't have time to during his working life.
have a good one graham.

The Chairman of Dover District Council gave Graham a leaving do last Thursday. Very nice it was too.
Graham and his lovely wife attended, Sue of course, as did Graham Smith, editor of the Mecury, Jim Hood, Anne Smith, Andy Steele and myself.
I did take a couple of photos; I'll try and see if I can remember what Colette showed me about loading them on here.
A good man is Graham, in the true sense of the word.
Hope he has a long and happy retirement.

Yes Graham is a great guy for sure. He was very tolerant of us all those years ago when we suddenly arrived on the scene with this new fandangled internet device thingy. And it was very new back then. Graham would be there when we went to all the usual photocalls and events taking photographs and making notes and we usually got in each others way. Although it was more a case of us getting in his way rather than the other way round

But he was very easy going about things and very helpful too on many occasions.
Have a great retirement Graham...I beat you to it..I was first out the door...lol!!
Will check The Dover Mercury out later.

Another very good one Terry. Great to see it. I never met Graham prior to the advance of grey hair.
Goes to show how quickly the years fly away.
That looks quite a contraption he's on in the pic. I bet he's chasing after a scoop there trying to talk to the residents on Mars or further beyond..

Again it's from the 70's Paul. GHBS, the hospital radio, ran a sort of "Top of the Form", an inter schools quiz. Local secondary schools took part with the heats broadcast live from school halls. We had a couple of finals in the town hall.
It was a logistical nightmare but fun. Teachers provided the questions and the Lions helped with front of house. The "contraption" was the audio mixer.
Even today people, now well into middle age, come up and say "I was in a team!".
Not something I would attempt again.

Thanks Paul.
Sue paid for most of it out of her own money.
