  Manufacturing output figures and export figures
  Industrial output
  Business start-ups
  House prices
  Balance of payments
  Government receipts
  Family income prospects
  
  All of that is fundamental to economic prospects and are essential indicators. You must be devastated to see so much good news.
  
  Tom - 'yes, a thousand times yes', economic confidence is essential for recovery and must be talked up. This is of course from a low base. You might have a point if from a high base.
