DOVER DISTRICT COUNCIL WELCOMES EXTENSION OF HIGH SPEED TRAIN SERVICES
Dover District Council has welcomed today's announcement by the Department for Transport that High Speed rail services to Deal and Sandwich are to be extended for a further six months to October 2014 ahead of a formal franchise renewal process.
Cllr Nigel Collor, DDC Portfolio Holder for Access & Property, said: "We have worked hard with our partners to secure high speed services to Deal and Sandwich and welcome today's announcement as a logical extension of the service until the formal franchise renewal process begins.
"High speed train services are playing an essential role in the regeneration of the Dover District. Investors are showing strong levels of confidence in the Discovery Park Enterprise Zone, the St James's development in Dover, and the recent launch of the Betteshanger Sustainable Business Parks."
