14:1974222I think I read somewhere that the Mother had committed a benefit fraud, which does put a slightly different spin on it - if it is true!!!
Up until I read the above I did rather come down on the same side as Roger as I believe there are younger children in the family who have only ever known Britain and have never even seen Zimbabwe. In that case I believe for the sake of those children the family should be allowed to stay, there is no telling what it would do to those children to be taken away from their life here in Britain and subjected to the horrors taking place in Zimbabwe.
Sometimes it is not clear cut and black and white, I pity the poor soul who has to make that kind of decision and am thankful that I will never have to be that person.

17:2274251the problem to me is why does it have to be the united kingdom?
most unhappy zimbabweans simply cross the border to south africa and try to scratch a living there.

17:2974252There is also something about having children in a country that has not yet made a decision about allowing you to stay and then raising the issue of the children who have been born since arrival........

Years ago there was a ploy by pregnant mothers to travel to the UK to drop their sprog in order that the child could claim to be British. This was abolished under the British Nationality Act. However the Human Rights have ruled that although not British the kid has rights of its own Not sure any country other than the UK abides by this ruling hence we are still considered a soft touch.
