If Burlington House will need to be dismantled, rather than the controlled explosion I was hoping to watch, how long will it take? I hope those in control of awarding the contract look at speed as well as price when considering tenders.

Timescale and penalty clauses would seem sensible.

Having been part of my working life you have to work safe and carefully so a penalty clauses and a timescale down to within a week or two would not be a safe thing to do and it would be unfair main Rd getting in and out will not be easy,But they could blow it up but with what is around it I do not think that will happen but just wait and see it will all be worked out weeks ahead by the firm doing it.Rushing is not going happen when a lost of life could happen.

My concern is that unless a very large team of properly qualified people are engaged to dismantle the building safely it could take an extremely long time.

Judith, as there seems to be no rush to get things moving, sorry Roger and Paul

, I suspect it is a very small team.

Sorry Jan, out of our hands for the moment. TheCPO process is in action unless landowner & tenants decide to sell without the order. Then it's down to the developers & lawyers. The demolition permission has already been granted.

Why do you persist on asking the same question when it is clear that you are not likely to get an answer david?

Paul, £8.5m has been spent on your watch, Charlie has signed a petition asking for transparency, it's not out of your hands at all, you are simply passing the buck.
In February last year we met in your office with Tim Ingleton and you laid out your plans for dover, you have absolutely failed to deliver what you promised. The MP, your party, has signed a petition that unequivocally states you are unfit for purpose, yet you persist, in cahoots with your sycophantic councillors, that we are on the cusp on great things. Come on, stop treating local taxpayers with disdain, you have manifestly failed to deliver, hold your hands up in shame,
And Charlie, you'll try to distance yourself, but you've done nothing to regenerate the town.
It's an open secret that Cllr Watkins and our MP don't see eye to eye, egos have prevented our town from progressing,

David, when and if you get your hands on the levers of power, you will soon realise that the legal system has every part of you bound and gagged. Small wonder that politicians invariably promise what they can never deliver and blow their own trumpets over achievements which are not theirs. As I remember Alan's petition it was slightly more respectful than you describe. Remember that district councils are not movers and shakers but mere service providers.

Being a councillor doesn't pay enough, Jan. but I take my hat off to councillors at all levels who work their butts off for their constituents for very little reward. I feel that anyone wishing to stand for County or as MP should have cut their teeth first at a lower level. But very few have.
But you have to hand it to David, he is working his butt off with the promise of no reward whatsoever except the satisfaction of splitting the anti-EU vote and letting Clair in.

It seems to me Peter, that David is working his butt off at (negatively) criticising DDC and the Councillors there for political purposes only, but not much positive work.

disagree with your prediction peter, ukip(david locally) are gaining there most recent support from disenchanted reds.
blue activists have defected but the base vote will not go with them and i suspect that charlie will benefit giving him a second term.

Much too early to call, Howard. This part of the base vote could go either way in a year's time. This year's Euro-elections, it goes with Farage, I'm afraid. See what freedom you have when you don't belong to a party?
