Have we got someone in charge with a fetish about fenced off or boxed in fountains?
I saw this up the park today, are they expecting thousands to be up the park tonight dipping in and out of the pond at midnight with a fountain that aint worked for years, or is there some official sitting in the bushes drooling over another closed off attraction?

grass grows by the inches but dies by the feet.

What a waste of OUR money, then the powers that be argue over the much needed toilets quoting lack of the folding stuff.

I know the Town and District Councils are talking about the Market Square fountain, but until those issues are resolved, I have wondered why the MS fountain has to shut - we haven't had any frosts that would freeze running water for a very long time.
Tradition I guess, but another one we should drop, like so many others.

Its an absolute disgrace what they are doing to our fountain in Market Square, we should be up in arms against its abolishment. This town needs to stand up against the potential loss of our lovely town fountain and just not stand for it to be put down
As for the Connaught Park fountain, well it just renders one speechless
Just like to add that we must be the only town in the UK that have had an unlit Christmas Tree over the Whole of Christmas. You just couldn't make this up! I despair.

ROGER;
If there is to be blame then DDC is as much to be blamed as DTC
But i prefer to encourage and ask the same questions as others
why can nearby towns happily keep there fountains going, and in Dover we find all the reasons why we need to close them?
comes back to other thresads where by other towns are more pro active whilst dover at times goes backwards.
Collette
with regard the xmas tree etc, have a look around folkestone
when you come in from hythe direction it has lots of lights, sandgate the same, then on all the trees coming into folkestone lots and lots of lights looks quite impressive as you enter folkestone town centre.

Went through Sturry last night their tree looked lovely so did the very simple Christmas lights. They were most effective, much better than those strung across the roads that most areas have.
