I'm interested to know peoples' views/experiences on the flu jab.
My doc says I should have one but several people have told me that they felt like they had flu for a few days after having it. Others said they had various other unpleasant side effects. Some said they had no reaction at all, in fact they forgot all about it after it was done.
I need to make my mind up but need more advice please.

There was a note on my prescription last week suggesting that I book in for one but I won't be bothering. Various people told me that there were side effects and the one used last year only protected against some of the strains.

Both my wife and my self have been having the flue jab from day one ,and that I can tell you that you should have it ,yes for some there will be side effects but they will only in most case,s just last a day or two, but just think how you feel when you get flue and how long that lasts for ,The jab does not stop you getting flue in most case,s it helps you get over it in a few days, making you feel better then if you did not take it.It also helps with other winter things ie a cold.for the older person like my self who is 73 by having the flue each year it builds up your body to fight it off each year.
So that is the advice I am giving out,no I am not a Dr and what I am saying is what and how both my wife and I feel .We both have ours on Thursday of this week and will not miss it.And for members of the public without a spleen like my wife and other members of the family it is a must.If our son had it at the time he might still be with us today and he did not have a spleen, both my wife and myself started up the kent Splenectomy and run it for many years working with Drs and trying to get members of the public to take the jabs that were needed to stop infection my fact sheets are still around and you can also get one from myself. But my advice is to have it 1oo%. thank you.

My Wife and I have had the Flu jabs for many years now and have had no noticeable side effects. They appear to be effective too!

I had mine this morning and have had one every year since I became eligible 7 years ago and have never had any problems as a result.
Last year the medics guessed the wrong virus mix even so all I got was a very mild cold while everyone else in the family got real stinkers.
Jacqui, I would advise you to have the jab, I have also had the pneumonia jab with no ill affects and will be having the shingles one soon.

I've got to agree with Jan. It's just a little prick but worth having Jacqui!

I've had the flu jab for the last 6 years without any I'll effects whatsoever. If ever you have had real flu you will never want it again. Plus it can be a killer. Have the pneumonia jab at the same time. Once lasts for around 10 years.

Thanks all of you - you've made my mind up to have the jab. I had my pneumonia jab last year and had no side effects other than a sore arm for a couple of days.
Dover forum is like having a big family isn't it? You're all lovely

Well I've done it! Not only did I have my flu jab, I had a shingles vaccination as well ......... how's that for brave?
Bob ........I would love to have you all round for tea but I just haven't got the room. When I win the lottery I will hire a hall (or buy one

) and we will all have a party - that's a promise! OK?

Had mine this morning, didn't actually feel it but was told to expect a sore arm and possible cold symptoms for a couple of days.

Had mine over the w/e. First time for me like Jacqui. Been refusing for a decade. Painless but sore arm Howard. Don't know why I changed my mind, my wife must have got to me in a weak moment.

My wife went to pick up a prescription at Tesco's pharmacy yesterday and was asked if she wanted a flu jab, she jumped at it as it saves her queuing up at our surgery.

"The failure of the jabs is likely to explain some of the pressures on Accident & Emergency departments in recent weeks, which had the longest waits on record over Christmas."
