  You talk of the pandemics that used to kill millions, they don't happen any more, specifically because of pharmaceutical companies.
  They have eradicated smallpox. Something like 40% of all people catching smallpox and 80% of children died from the disease.
  They have also developed cures for dozens of other diseases that only 50/60 years ago we would have died from, polio is on the verge of eradication as is malaria already eliminated from most of Europe, north and south America and north Africa. Millions annually have been saved from death by these pharmaceutical companies. All operations that save life's have to use a cocktail of anaesthetic drugs to prevent you dying on the table, you would then be treated with antibiotics all developed by these same people.
  They are on the breakthrough of curing Alzheimer's disease. They have found cures and treatments for numerous cancers that were a guaranteed death sentence, can cure many forms of heart disease that too would have been death sentences.
  Woman are regularly and safely having children in their 50's and 60's down to you guessed it these same pharmaceutical companies. We are keeping the elderly alive almost indefinitely.
  This planet doesn't have the resources to sustain unlimited population growth, life expectancy has almost doubled in the last 100yrs largely due to these pharmaceutical companies, so yes I do think overpopulation is down to them.
