Blimey look at the state of that traffic island. And they say that things are going downhill fast.

Man questioned following gun incident
"A man is being questioned by police following an alleged robbery in Dover.
Officers were called to Castle Street at 7.30am today after receiving reports that a man had been seen with a gun.
A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbert and is currently in custody at Canterbury police station.
Castle Street and a section of Maison Dieu Road were closed off for several hours while an investigation was carried out."
For a minute there I thought there were six men involved, but the six is the date...phew!
Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

Someone has reposted a status update on Facebook saying that a man got in a car at maison dieu traffic lights and threatened the driver with a gun. The driver managed to overcome the guy luckily. I don't know if this is the truth but sounds like what is being posted above. Did not think I'd ever have to lock my car doors in Dover! Still it is most likely a lone ranger and he has been caught.

Dan Coleman · 20 subscribers16 hours ago · ..This morning my brother had someone climb in his car at a set of traffic lights on Maison Dieu road and pulled a gun on him. He managed to restrain him and have him arrested. Then they found a knife on him afterwards too. So make sure when you're driving about you lock your doors especially when you're alone.
From Facebook. He has asked that we all pass it on.
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

It is frightening that guns appear to be freely accessible, I hate to think what the use of them in the next 10 or 20 years will be, this incident is particularly frightening as it could have been any one of us pulling up at those traffic lights!

#13 Martin, A full firearm is hard to get, wether over or under the counter, but air weapons are readily avalable, all you need is proof of ID and age - over 18, do that and away you go. The danger lies in the fact that many airarms are made to look like the real thing, size, weight, sighting systems ect and you would need to be an expert to tell the difference when someone is pushing it into your face!

The Lithuanian/Latvian criminals are flooding the market with hand guns, you are right about the effect a replica pointed at you would have. Do we know if it was a replica used in this incident?

We had a young lad across the road from me who brought his gun into the country from France and he shot someone.

Keith, I doubt the lad who was shot found it funny, he was in hospital in London for a long time.
