I was a young steward with the rival company at the time. Was in The Lord Nelson when the news came over. In those days, you could guarantee that if you went out in the evening you would bump into a fellow crew member, or someone on an opposite crew but your boat, or someone from another boat who you'd know through everyone else, or someone from the other company who shared your profession.
At first we only heard a boat was in trouble. Everybody there knew somebody out at sea that night.
Really can't find the words. A day to remember lost ones. I hope people have found peace.
