Weald of Kent steam and vintage rally at Woodchurch has been cancelled for this weekend due to the ground still wet from last weeks rain, has been moved to next weekend subject to the field drying out, lots of heavy machinery and trucks go there but no chance at the moment, from experience it wouldnt take much to get stuck there.I know its not in the area but it many from Dover visit the show, its a great day out and one of the biggest events of its kind in the Kent area.

Went a few years ago, a fascinating look back in time.
Loved the ploughing completion, those old timers take it so seriously!
A great day out, the kids absolutely love it.

I have just read the following on FB and think it might count as a happy event

, but not important enough to start a new thread as it is also a councillor patting himself on the back.
"Cllr Nigel Collor
Following much lobbying by myself and local colleagues, KCC have advised that the ugly parklets that have been in place far too long will be removed between 9th and 11th of November. Any planting will be relocated."

Really surprised (not)! And how much did they cost? Paid for by whom?

And from where do KCC get the money?

Quite simply us the tax and council tax payers. It is our money they continue to waste so there is never enough for the really important things.

If they just took the plants out and wrote free on them they'd be gone in a day.
I noticed recently that some of the plywood is de-laminating, so i don't suppose they would have been around much longer anyways!

Here's a thought - how about re-homing the plants in the former Granville Gardens near the site of the little red bridge and fountain as it's approaching the 1st anniversary of my now not-so-recent visit.

So our Nigel the elected geezer lobbied to have removed the parklets put in by the unelected officers.
Does this mean out elected councillors are not running the council ?
This means we don't need elections
He should have been aware they were being put in and opposed then to save all this waste of taxpayers money .
They wouldn't use there own money in this way

There is lack of consultation on lots of things these days .The problem is that all three councils are pushing projects forward.Money is no object.
