... RedEd and BallsUp on the economy......
""""""Mike Smithson @MSmithsonPB
Just 51% of LAB voters in today's ComRes poll said they trust the 2 Eds to make the right decisions about the economy. 35% said they didn't

Says it all really.......
Many Labour voters are not as dumb as their voting preference suggests.

I look at that site from time to time it can be very informative. Despite being pressed on many occasions the labourites on here have never offered an alternative to Osborne's policies.
Just by way of balance Barry I'd be interested to see the corresponding figure re tory voters. I don't know anybody that has any faith in Cameron

Fair enough David, but I would suggest that that lack of faith is deserving in the coalition rather than Cameron per'se. Osborne and Cameron are hamstrung by the LimpDems who are treacherous and hold the government to ransom. That does not excuse them though, they should stand up to Cleggy to do what is needed and being blocked by the LimpDems.

I guess we'll never know the extent of the lib influence Barry, to me its a convenient excuse for Cameron's weakness.
I'm not too concerned because as useless as the coalition is, the alternative of the two Eds is terrifying. I take comfort in the fact that they would drive us to the bottom very quickly and then we can start over again, which is whats required.
I think we agree on that at least

I have no faith in any politician of any colour to sort our financial problems at the moment, it is more a case of who will make less of a cock up.

The thing is Brian, I can't work it out, please explain what is required.

Jan - I agree. Politics is interfering with the very difficult and unpopular things that need to be done.
Brian - yes, please explain. Incidentally further to your earlier comment - the measures blocked by the LibDems have been publicised, the tax cuts, spending cuts and supply side reforms. I have said many times that Osborne and Cameron are guilty of not putting their foot down and calling their bluff.

So it's true then; the Earth is flat. It's just science that's round.
I get where you are coming from Barry, I too have been known to fall into the Howard role and post something here that will simply get folk talking.
-Just what advantage is there in this bed-room tax? It's not certain to save money.
-Just what has changed with all the hullabaloo over Dave's speech on toughening-up on immigration and benefits? Not a lot.

the so called bedroom tax is yet another political gimmick that does nothing to help the economy.

It helps the economy because the govt spends less

There is little evidence indeed that that is in fact the case David, no evidence really.
Rather BTW...
"Your headline "Spring on hold as winter refuses to let go" (Report, 23 March) reminded me of Oscar Wilde's Selfish Giant, who refuses to share his riches with the poor and disabled, with the consequence that spring never comes to his garden. Should George Osborne be taking note?

i doubt it, this will be like the disability benefits clampdown - the appeals system will more than wipe out any savings.
