On paper the match last night should have been a classic, but sadly it was anything but. It was a damp squib of an affair right from the off and Howard is right..twas like watching paint dry. France were intimidated and looked already beaten five minutes into the game. They did not have any kind of answer to the free flowing Spanish football. Spain of course won 2-0 but at a canter. They hardly broke sweat. Disappointing as France promised good things beforehand, their earlier games looked good and their warm up matches showed some great skills and good results. But there we are...they froze on the big stage on the big night.
Tonight England go up a level. They had one of the easiest qualifying groups but nevertheless played well. The Italians will provide weightier more serious opposition tonight...watch that Pirlo guy run the midfield.
