Very sad, I've known him for many years and he always had something to laugh about whenever we met.

Really devastated about this. I had a phone call from a mutual friend on Sunday morning and I couldn't believe it. Eddie gave a lot of help to many organisations over the years. He was a true mate. My thoughts are with his wife Sandra.
Eddie helped to promote his grandson Jake (Kelvin's lad) with his music.

Farewell Eddie Clapson, former press photographer and freelance photographer.
Photograph below was used in the East Kent Mercury in February 1985, after Eddie Clapson had launched himself as a freelance photographer, with a darkroom in Castle Street.
Eddie was a popular colleague of mine on the staff of the Dover Express, from May 1968 until June 1984, when he left to set up in business as a freelance photographer.
He generously lent me the brilliant 6X7 Pentax camera seen in the photograph several times to copy pictures of old Dover.
Kathleen and I treasure the family photographs he took when our son Edwin was born.

What a shame, a lovely man; didn't see him very often, but we'd known him for years.
A really good guy and always cheery - he'll be sadly missed by a lot of people.
Great photo Kath.

Wow what a turn out! The church was packed and they brought seats around the edges of the Church still did not mean everyone could sit. There were all the old reporers from various newspapers and many ex footballers from way back.
I also spotted the Chairman of he Council who managed to find a seat at the back,no one ever said a bad word about Eddie he was a true gentleman,he as his son Kalvin said was a Dover Legend. He will be sadly missed a great yet down to earth kind man!

I was hoping someone would have put on here when his funeral was to be.
Presumably John, it was today ?
Sue must have known and I guess others too, shame no one thought to put it on here.

Thanks John - I've just looked through the Express and saw a very small piece advising that it was today at noon.
I am very sorry that I missed it though.
