Not actually gone bust yet and I don't think they will be as the creditors stand a better chance of recovering their money if it stays open. Thanet District Council seem to have played a large part in causing the situation we have now. All was going to change for the better when UKIP took control but what with this and the Manston fiasco clearly nothing has improved.

A nice place but it doesnt surprise me.It harks back to the good ol days of Londoners coming to Margate for jellyed eels and a day on the seaside,a shame but its all long gone now.Dont think it will ever be a major attraction,i hope i,m wrong.

It's over staffed with PR types prancing around the place and at £ 17 a pop it was never going to happen
It needs to be open and pay at the rides to attract the passing walking trade
The car park is a £5 .

The longer it stays open the deeper it will go into the red. Draw a 25 mile diameter circle round Margate and 80% of the punters in that catchment area are fish. A huge challenge to bring customers to an attraction which is physically so out on a limb.

Once Margate has it all in place with it new build and the public go down there more,Dreamland will fit in and make money but can it wait till then? that is the point of it all.Ramsgate is in the same boat,

As previously mentioned, its trying to relive the good old days, all very nice but times have changed, kids now want all the latest white knuckle rides and theres plenty of good theme parks and travelling fairs around to cater for them.

At the time that people were trying to reinvent Dreamland the general view was that it would complement the Turner Gallery.
Much as the gallery has brought people in and other ventures have been started nearby to cater for those people I cannot imagine many of their visitors deciding to have a go on the dodgems after viewing the exhibits.

Folkestone.Ramsgate,Margate,Ashford, Dover. for the pass 30years or more have needed a face lift and apart from Dover some years ago they set out to do that,Dover was the very last to start doing it.
Now apart from Ashford ,Dover looks like they will get it all done first and looking at it Dover will be the best of them all. Dover will never be like Ashford but that does not matter.I moan about Dover for many years but at last we are seeing the beginning of a new Dover.
But the council cannot sit back and say job done,it is far from that, there is and will be one big black hole and one the council must act soon on,and that is the town and its high st,how that can be done I do not know but something must be done to save it before it is to late.
Also Folkestone rd it was the council of the day that made it into what we see today and as it is the same council today it is their job to put it right again.how they go about doing that ?again I do not know. but act they must or one day we could see Dover Collage move out.

Dreamland will make it if they have funds put by for the long rd ahead. As the towns in East Kent get better which should bring in more of the public from around the UK and the weather will also play a big part in it to. And free parking would also be a big help ,if you use the park then the parking should be free or at a very low cost. But asking £17 per person +£5 parking for a family that is to much,But all this is my views only. And nothing wrong living in a dream world.

If Dreamland had funds put by, Vic, they would not now be applying to the High Court for a voluntary arrangement with their creditors. That is a last-ditch tactic to keep going but even if the court grants their application, they will need a miracle to keep going until next summer, so I'm afraid involuntary liquidation looms. The whole episode has the fingerprints of the dreadful, incompetent Thanet District Council all over it.

I visited Margate several time's this summer and it was packed with visitors.
I saw coach loads, presumably from London, getting off there coaches that were parking at the Turner Centre car park, all carrying beach gear, including very large cool boxes, full of food and drink and headed straight for the beach.
They all looked like they were having a great time on the beach but I don't think they spent much money there.
Dreamland is far too expensive, especially as much of it was not even open.

They need to lower the cost of parking and getting in ,as some one already put on the forum go in free and just pay for the rides you go on that way you can keep an eye on what you spend.

It's not a theme park in the middle of nowhere, so it needs per ride fees, and differing value passes for numbers of rides up to unlimited. A single entrance fee really only works for a captive audience or scheduled and one-time events, such as concerts and exhibitions. What about the arcades - do you have to pay the entrance fee to play video games?
