Charlie I didnt mean to post it sarcastically.I have with my Cllr friends put in many hours and the problem is that the lights put up last year were sub standard. In fact they were indoor lights and brackets which mean the whole lot need replacing. We have 2 problems one financial and the other is time, most specialist christmas light installers are already gearing up to put them up.

Cost the Town Council cannot afford to do this work in one year,we all work with budgets and they were set nearly a year ago because the Town Council budgets have to be in by December, and we didnt know of the problems then. The Town Council work with many outside companies, and it is unlikely any of the ferry companies or DHB would ever support this event, why should they!

As Cllr Jan Tranter said it is unfortunate that this problem has been spotted so late,so we will sort the lights problem out after Christmas away from time every Town wants Christmas Lights up,we ask that this year we realise the problem and we will get it sorted next year.

There was a discussion at one stage to abandon the lights altogether this year, but all Cllrs across Party wanted something rather than nothing.

Hope that explains the reason why.
