Madness isn't it?
I went to see Jeff Beck in Chelsea earlier this year. They were selling little plastic bottles of beer at £5.50 a pop. I worked out that it worked out at about £9.60 ish per pint.
It's absolutely taking the p*ss when you get frisked on the way in to make sure you don't bring your own.
It was £6.50 a pint at The Stones in Stratford. And they took my sweets off of me (a packet of Fruit Pastilles) because "no food".
There should be laws against this type of blatant profiteering rip off.

#341 - You're really not a Dovorian, Howard, are you. And you're definitely not a skittle player!

Got me bang to rights Ray, my 50 odd years in the smoke has given me away. Having now done my homework the drinker in question is based in Guston which is a suburb of inner city River, that should clear things up.

Nor am I most of the time!
Tomorrow night out in the suburbs at the Fox where lager and Guinness is about £5.50. Luckily I'll be on the cheap £3.80 bitter.

Howard, the Chance is in Guston not Dover so it does not matter whether you are a Dovorian or a skittle player. You care about Dover just like a lot of us who
chose to live here, which is far more important than the dubious joy of being born in the town .

Every time I walk past that I think that it should now be a going concern with St James drawing people past and the revitalising work being done at the Co-op. DDC will be relieved to collect rent again.

Punch have a long lease on the pub and have been paying DDC rent all along, as I understand it.

Noticed during my Sunday morning walk around the town
The Railway Bell has a to let board up.
The Dublin works are progressing and there's a board up showing what's being built.

The Prince Albert seems to have been shut for a long time, must be a very costly renovation going on inside.

Went past earlier and the Prince Albert looks like it will be open soon, Christmas decorations visible from between the contractor's vans.

I seem to remember reading that the "Admiral Harvey" would be reopening as a pub but nothing seems to have been happening there.

Lots been happening Howard, a complete internal restructuring. Not sure when it will open but there has been an awful lot of work being done.

I think one of the first things done at the Admiral Harvey was removing the skittle alley.
