Not stewing Terry, now I know a bit more, but it doesn't auger well for Dover's businesses.

It's now Wednesday Terry, you were going to post about Mike's new title on Monday - or is it one best forgotten ?

I've washed my hands of the affair Roger. I asked Mike to make a public statement at the weekend. His opinion is that he will wait and see what the press make of it tomorrow.
I told him that he is wrong and should set the record straight before then.
I have told you both in emails that a properly run TCM type organisation is essential and that (within reason) I would help whoever set one up. As to whether it's Mike or yourself is immaterial.
I daresay that the Dubris column will have fun tomorrow, especially as Yam was ribbed unmercifully at the Steering Group meeting when he turned up after an absence of about a year!

I am sure that Mike will do a good job, but I still feel that the job is more tourism based and something that DDC should be doing.....

Been nice knowing you :)

please take note that napoleon bonaparte was banished to an island too.
best to keep a low profile for a while.
Reluctant as I am to get into this debate it seems to me that someone has their knickers in a twist!
There is nowhere in the article that says Mike is TCManager! Nowhere does it say who has appointed him to events manager and I don't know who is financing what - so unless someone has some facts lets wait until we have some - not uninformed speculation!
Maybe tomorrows papers will have a real story!

Mike has self-appointed himself as Town Centre Manager - after speaking to him, he agrees that probably the name was a wrong one to choose.
No one has appointed him, no one is funding him; it is all about his own events he might want to pick up and run with.
He is web-master of 16 web-sites, which must keep him busy.
One of the sites I think could be utilised much more than it is, is his "Civic Pride" web-site.
The places around the Town which urgently need attention - yes it is quite a large document/web-site !
Mike is an ideas-man, some ideas are crazy (on his own admission) some are great, but others need to asses them and if they are good ones, see them through. I would imagine that funding would come from KCC and Lottery money rather than DDC (purely because they don't have any money for events.

I think its great when people get up and try do fings for the town, the only worry at mo would be Mike running with a DAFT IDEA and fighting for funding for it, whilst others lose out

I see both papers have the story. The are totally different so you pay your money (50 or 55p) and get even more confused.
Terry
ps All papers late today because of the football, I suppose there is some logic there!

So what is the real story ???
Don't blame Anne for stopping him if that is right - I wish my wife would stop me playing with my semi-demolished pile of bricks

this has left me totally confused, i wish that i was a clever local businessman.
mike stated that he was stepping aside from the pageant after this year.
victor stated that he was retiring from public life.
are they one and the same person???
you never see them together, do you??

Howard
Who do you think would be most insulted by that Mike or VIC?
OR maybe they are one and the same?

i would have to stick to my original assertion keith.
both burn the candle at both ends.
last year i sent a cheque for my friend of the castle bit to mike, it was cashed over 6 months .
incidentally, another music and dance day up at our castle this sunday.
