VIC;
I think the prob appears to be theres no control over the differing unitily companies and when they dig up roads.

You miss my point boyo,
seafront being one area, the councils have a responsibility to manage who digs up a road, and when, but they choose to hind behind there being no legislation in place to stop utiily companies doing whatever they want

As much as we would all like the authorities/utilities to have crystal-balls, they cannot forsee all problems that may happen....
Been nice knowing you :)

Sorry Vic - isn't this a bit of a waste of time (and money) contacting Highways again, I though we had a whole thread on this, and Nigel is looking into it, and awaiting info from people ?
Been nice knowing you :)

Agreed, but then
- Vic probably didn't read that thread cos' it's not got his name on the front
- the bloke at Kent Highways was probably a different one who didn't realise it was already being dealt with by a member (so it might not then get an incident number)
A waste of public money to give Vic a bit of puff.

I won't be at the Dover Town Neighbourhood Forum as, like you, I'm a rural resident so it doesn't apply to me but I'll be at the rural one later on in the year.

It is all the same to me but there again I was born here.

Vic
Simply because you were born here doesn't mean you have any more or any less say than any other resident in the affairs of Dover.
It's that type of comment which is insulting to other Dover residents and especially your fellow parish councillors.

ray and vic are very typical of village people, no doubt they will close the matter like true gentlemen and it will be courgettes at dawn.

I have to admit I was surprised at Vic's interference as the problem was already being dealt with by Nigel.
I would have thought that a pressure cleaner would make the whole ugly area look much better, I guess it is mainly chalk and dirt that is marking the road surface.

Maybe I am missing something here
Kent Highways resurface the road - all pretty and shiny
Kent Highways come along to sort out the culverts and dig up the road as part of that works
seems its an in house job to me

A more likely scenario:
Kent Highways subcontractor A resurfaces the road - all pretty and shiny
Kent Highways subcontractor B comes along to sort out the culverts and dig up the road as part of that works.

True Peter
But still a lack of in house co-ordination - no one to blame but themselves
