Let's hope they have robes in different sizes, just in case.

To be honest given the paucity of potential candidates Neil was the only choice

I assume that is that because a Labour councillor was not chosen.

Without a doubt it is party political with the numbers of tories and independents roughly level with labour and the mayor has a casting vote.
Many predicted last year who Mayor and Deputy would be and they were correct.

Just checked and there are 6 labour, 4 tories and 4 independents so we can work out most of the votes in advance.
In a positive vein I think this looks good outside of the Town Council offices.

Party politics has no place in parish councils.

Until very recently a tory councillor described himself on his facebook profile as leader of the opposition on the town council, sums it all up quite well.

As there are only 14 councillors the current mayor must have used his casting vote.
