I don't want to start a slanging match Howard, but even the title of this thread is contentious, and could easily provoke a reaction on DL over being called 'misfits'.
I don't agree with everyones point of view on either forum, but I don't think I'm ever abusive, although in some cases it would be very easy to make a 'tit for tat' attack.
And your first point still doesn't explain why both Martin P and myself, and maybe others have been accused of using false names.
This must surely call the integrity of the moderators into question (not by me, I know who I am).

I've been the subject of personal abuse on DL and have been advised by a number of people who post on here, to look on there and see what they are putting. I did look once and didn't think their comments were worthy of a reply and so now don't look on there at all. I know they're going to be abusive, so why would I want to read that.

Like this forum, DL is made up mostly of decent people. Like this forum, DL has its fair share of people with unorthodox views which, I suppose makes for lively debate. DL's main strength is that the party politicians are not taken seriously so they stay away. Nothing is more fragile than a politician's ego. Its main weakness is its tolerance of pseudonyms which allows the occasional troll to play around anonymously.
(Yes I post under a pseudonym on there, the reason for that has long disappeared but I can't change it. Besides, everyone knows who I am on both forums so why bother ?)

I used to post on there Peter, but it got abusive so I stopped, I wouldn't necessarily say it was because my ego is so fragile, more a case of whatever I was posting, was met with such personal abuse and as they are going to do that, whether I posted or not, I'm not.

Roger, there have also been plenty of what you call "abusive" comments on this forum but that has not stopped you from posting on here which is a good thing.
Isn't it time all this silliness between the two forums ended, this is what I posted on DL.............
There seems to be this silly aggression, verging on hatred from some, between the two forums that I just fail to understand as the two are so different. this one is 90% lighthearted while DF is 90% serious..............
I will not reply to any more comments on this thread as it is about time some members learnt there is more to life than childish bickering between so called adults.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Not quite so nasty though Jan, although David L. did come pretty close many times, although never as bad as on DL.

well said Vic. when I came back and read some threads I was not very amused. Lets hope the corner is cut off and we go straight ahead. If it does get heated, then lets talk about the weather we have

Thank you for your support about it,if we can get alot more members saying it ,it might stop it all,it is only coming from a few of the members but the name calling is also bad ,all of us need to read and what we put before posting and asking ourself is this wording rude or will it upset members and if that is a yes then rewrite it.We can all put a view over without what we are geting today.

Heike and Vic - totally agree with you both. Life is too short to be nasty to people. I know I've been less than polite to you in the past Vic, for which I've said sorry in another post, and I now try to think before I type. As I get older I find it so sad that some people can waste precious time being nasty to others when it's so much more fun being nice! We chose what we read online, nobody forces us. So if a certain site makes you angry then don't read it - simples lol
Anyway I like Heike's idea of talking about the weather
Terrible this wind lately - I reckon it's all those christmas brussels sprouts
Happy New Year everybody

There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

Barrie Nicoll wrote:Back to this old chestnut yet again. Whats the big deal with pseudonyms ? I use my real name on here but get accused of using a false one, personally I really don't care who anyone is or what name they use.
As far as I'm aware I have never met anyone from either forum in the real world, nor am I likely to, so names are totally irrelevant anyway.
I do notice some i9ncomplete names on this forum, but that is not a problem for me, why isn't it a problem for the members who are concerned about the use of pseudonyms on the other forum ? Bit of a double standard really.
Post on here a while back about how much entertainment this forum was giving to DL, now the same members appear to be getting a similar value in reverse...another double standard really.
As you know I post on both forums, and each has its own appeal for me. I find it rather childish of both forums to make 'playground' remarks about the other, and I know for a fact that members from the other forum have left there with bad feeling so yet another case of double standards. Looking forward to the inevitable abuse....
I am not getting into the forum slagging match. I do not look at the other site and don't know or care what they write on that.
To answer your point about names. I am BarryW and was that when pseudonyms were allowed and have not changed it because everyone knows who I am, I make no secret of it or what business I am in.
As for not meeting anyone on the forum, perhaps it is time for another forum get-together. We have not had one since the days of PaulB. Many of us have met, know each other and have always enjoyed meeting up over a beer or two (or three......) no matter how heated posts have got we can still sink a drink together and that has to be a good thing.
