The Dover-Kentish Gold Cup looked like this, at least before John Godwinson kicked it.

Paul - a new name for Eastry !!
We have seen the Ringlemere cup at the British Museum, when they had the gold treasure exhibition a few years ago, soon after the cup was found. I understand the cup had been damaged by a plough.
Never knew there was so much gold in England when we saw the exhibition, piles and piles of torques, huge ones, very intricately decorated, absolutely am-ay-zing skill of our early ancestors. As usually happens with found treasure trove, the farmer and metal detectorist (Mr Cliff Bradshaw) shared the payment.
