Hello Anna
I don't feel theres a need for personal abuse anywhere but I'm wary in this reply to not distract from Dover Forum which this heading is about.
Chris without doubt has a difficult job, I personally didn't agree with the separation of politics etc but Chris is the owner and at that time I made a choice.
Some time later I decided to post again but I'm aware from past experience that we all want people to post, whether they be councillors, or police or who ever but if we then personally abuse them then why would they want to continue posting?
Many don't for that very reason.
But I'm also about open debate deletions is a problem as has been highlighted above.
I hope that answers it

I think it's just about mutual respect for one and others I'll admit when I first joined I felt a bit apprehensive to post. However I'd like to think people can be nice, respectful and most importantly have the ability to debate without the need of belittling and devaluing someones POV no matter how much you disagree.
Oh how I wish I felt this way a few year ago would of prevented much unnecessary arguments on facebook

I think you most certainly speak with forked tongue. I make that observation having looked at another public media platform, via a friends computer and at his invitation. I hasten to add, I would never sink that low as some of the comments attributed to some who post on here nor those who set them up. Maybe you should name a few Keith, who in your opinion as a Cllr have infringed on the good character of others? Can you assist him Mr Mcsweeney1? Please, let's have an open debate. I am very happy for this to be the start of another thread, if so decided by Chris.

Round and round we go,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I feel it a tad unfair to Chris Togo on about other sites to which he has no control what so ever.

Here's the odds for snow on Christmas Day from William Hill.

Might be worth a little punt since snowflakes have already been sighted on Dover Forum on a daily basis?

Chris can and does exercise his right to delete anything he feels is inappropriate, as is his right. I do note a serious lack of people willing to reply to a simple question, which in the eyes of those reading it, may lead them to suspect avoidance to reply for reasons which may not be favourable or hiding behind the flimsy curtain of ambiguity and dancing around the pot. Surely as a Cllr, you can and should reply to a question and it may indeed influence opinions either way on your standing in the community as such if you do not. After all, what have you and Mr Mcsweeney1 to hide, if anything? Asking questions is not going round and round. Avoiding a reply is.

If I understood what the question was in post 24 I might be able to answer it.

The question was in #24. By the way Howard, the invitation to Sandhurst New College still stands too.

Can't we have the forum as a councillor-free zone too - please leave your robes or whatever at the door?!

I run a football club forum and have found since facebook groups came along most people tend to switch over to them, they have their down points though, for example you can't find old topics as easy as you can on a forum,
Ive set up facebook and twitter pages for my forum so that when people post on the forum, it posts the topic title on facebook and twitter automatically via "Dvlr.it". It gets the forum more page views and encourages members to join the forum. The page views help search ranks too.
I dont delete posts that go off topic, I split them, a clear topic title helps a lot, if you start deleting content some members wont bother to post, but if you just split it and put a moderator note explaining it was going off topic you keep everyone happy,
(I'm not moaning or telling anyone what to do, just throwing ideas out there as I know how difficult / time consuming running a forum and having to moderate the content can be.

There need to be clarity once again in post 24 the question was answered fully, all about Dover Forum.
Now moving on to mr or mrs Button the forum contributors needs to decide if it wants its cllrs to provide feedback, answer questions, updates etc,
whilst we may not agree with some councillors view points that's al they are another view point, bt we shouldn't just decide to disown them just because we may disagree with them.
The forum is made up of a number of individuals councillors just being one small section, and I wouldn't want to go down the road of only wanting posts we agree with, the site would become very quickly very boring.

Posts 22 and 33: councillors providing feedback, answering questions, etc - I'm up for that on the Dover Forum so long as we realise that some councillors do those things via other routes (so we can draw no conclusions if they do not post here). What I would prefer them to do is to refrain from using this forum as a shop window.
Lord I miss John Smith on Question Time, "QC" hat on.

Hello mr or mrs button
You only appear to have picked out my comments(no surprize there)
of course it's up to councillors how they communicate to it's electorate.
I tend to use quite a number of outlets, but others choose other routes, or not so many routes, it's a choice thing.
I'm not sure about shop windows, I presume your stating cllrs shouldn't take any credit?
or they shouldn't have a view?
We should I feel encourage councillors to post, but not then slag them off because we may disagree.
I fully understand these are open forums and as such you leave yourself open to abuse often by unknown persons, who may not even live locally.

Hi! I picked out those two posts because I agree with their sentiment. For 'shop window' read 'vanity mirror' if you will.
