Well, before I comment on the game, I will again say, no matter the league, no matter the weather,, I will support Dover.
Now todays game,,,,,,,,,
Thankfully Modest was in the first 11 today, and Charles on the bench, Dover played there predicable high ball pumped up front
which was easily soaked up by a Weston side, who today had come for more than a draw(unlike last season)
Dover had penalty appeals turned down twice, I was to far away to see if the referee was correct or not, but although Dover had a number of chances, they failed again to score.
Weston were a better side today than in previous seasons, and will be up there around the play offs at the end of the season.
Dover went in 0-0 but either side could have scored.
Dover did hit a purple patch in the second half, and after a penalty appeal which I was in line with and without doubt the Weston player tripped the dover player the referee was having none of it.
The ball ran loose to Modest who thundered it into the net.
Dover soon went back into playing to deep as they do, and Weston easily equalised when 4 dover players stood off the striker
allowing the equaliser.
It was end to end, but thern in the second minute of injury time on a cross the Dover goalie went to catch the ball and a Weston player got in his way and the goalie went right over him summersaulting which it was a wonder he didn't seriously injure himself, the ball ran loose and Weston scored, the referee gave the goal, which in my opinion should have been a foul on the goal keeper.
Of course dover huffed and puffed but really were not good again today
with a crowd of 560 the fan base is declining.
Now we can blame the officials but really over a season the bad decisionsl equal up to the good decisions over a season
and Dover wins as many dubious decisions as they lose them.
Dover needs to seriously look now at its tactics, is the manager the best person for the job, etc
whilst theres a long way to go, things do need to change in a big way if Dover is to even make the play offs, let alone anything better.
Pumping up high balls all away teams have got used to now, time for a change of tactics.
FINAL SCORE (AND LOSS OF ANOTHER 3 POINTS AT HOME) DOVER 1 WESTON SUPER MERE 2
