 - Indeed well done Dover Society and Pat Sherratt.

I had tried this a few years ago, but at that time the Planning Enforcement Officer had just died (suddenly) and there was no one to progress it. Also there was a funding problem with the administration and land registry searches.

Pat, being a Town Councillor was able to convince the Twn Council of the benefits of helping with that funding so well done to the Town Council too.

Let's also not forget the District Council's Planning Department's valuable input in this and the Political will to see it through.

 - it is some good news, but hasnt gone far enough as i see it.the whole of the a20 tract from meggers to the eastern docks needs sorting.
if you gonner leave derilict builds stand and look allfull,at least smarten them up,as to not give the town a bad inpression to visators passing thrugh.

 - yes sue probably, but as you say there are some nice buildings in snargate street but there are a lot of eyesores as well.
 1,the old hovertell site.
2,the area between the bp garage and folkestone fixings.
3,and of course as you aproach york street roundabout you clap eyes on the old amusment arcade.
4,queen street, the waste ground there looks unsightly.

and then you get into the ditz area, well that speaks for its self dosent it.

 - Yes there are some lovely building along Snargate Street if you can spot them between all the lorries, then there is Burlington House and the back of the Gateway neither of which are likely to encourage visitors to wander around the town.

 - I think some need to look at the road sides leading up to their own offices, also the A20 they did start picking some up on the A2 leading down to the Ramsgate turn off and BQ we still have the Tesco trees etc the A2 to Canterbury is rubbish all along the sides of the roads this is down to KCC highways and not DDC but a lot of rubbish still left outside on the streets in and around Dover that is down to the D.D.C.they did not put it there but is their job to get it picked up,the old A20 is the same. So a lot of work needs to be done, - before pats on backs is done. by both the KCC and DDC. but the public are the main cause of it all and it will stay that way till we see very big fines give out.

 - john is right about aycliffe, i can never understand why so many derogatory comments are made about aycliffe - great views and walks, the houses are well looked after in the main with excellent gardens to be seen.

add in the proximity of the shakespeare beach and cliff a nice place to live.
