I see the councillors have given the staff a 2.5% pay increase and £27 for the charismas p..up
Apparently they made some savings so decided to up the wages because the staff are suffering because of the costs of living going up
Says labours Gordon Cowan in the Dover rag.
They could have just cut the council tax, but that wouldn't do would it Gordon
Be carful what you vote for Dover

Yes Dover Town Council, the let us waste the money from Dover's Council Tax payers many of whom would love to have an extra £27 to spend on everyday food never mind the Christmas extras.
I suppose the wage increase is forgivable but not the £27.

That's why the officers love the councillors there - at least those running the administration.

Maybe some one can publish the names of them that voted for this.
Give the public the chance to give them the boot
Most people in the private sector have taken pay cuts ,
In the building industry the average is 30% cuts since 2004 after labour opened the EU doors

You don't need the names KeithB, it would have been the Labour Councillors and you can see who they are by looking on the web-site.
It must've been deemed to be fair to pay them the increase and the £27 Christmas dinner payment; I can't really say as I wasn't at the meeting where it was decided.

What point scoring ?
If you are talking about post 6, then the decision will have been made by the majority party at DTC and who is that ? the Labour group - no political point-scoring, just obvious facts.

roger, you said yourself you weren't at the meeting so you don't know who voted for what.
the seafront urinals fiasco showed that it is not just a party thing.

Just because DDC or KCC might waste money that does not mean DTC should but as they are Labour lead that appears not to matter to their followers.
Howard as Labour hold the majority they must have voted for this jolly even if the other parties also voted yes.

I'll check out your post number 13 Keith.
Are you talking about recent officers leaving, or ones from years ago - pre 2003 ?

all a bit of a storm in an egg cup in my view, i think there are ten staff there so 10 x 27 equals - not an awful lot.
