  The risk Barry is people falling off a moving float. The police are legally liable for any incident or accident once the parade begins, and they insist on strict guidelines. It makes the parade safer, but the cost of building a float much higher as scaffolding has to be hired to prevent kids falling or jumping on and off.
  
  Carnivals suffer from a combination of the nation now being risk averse and general apathy to getting involved to make something worthwhile happen.

  Vic, Jack Ash is still around albeit a little frail. He lives almost opposite me. His daughter Jan is the immediate past president of the Lions Club.

  Thank you Terry I did know he was still with us and his daughter looks after him so well,I like them very much. Jack and me go way back even to the 1950s when I done my very first Dover Carnival,I would dress up as a tramp and go along the steets playing my Violin.
