    Just came across a great little 'poem' in a 1900s booklet by Lieut Col Newnham-Davis which includes:

    "Dover is like a goose which has laid A golden eggs and is puzzled what to do with it...."

    "What Dover may be a few years hence is rather a fascinating picture, but it must be drawn with the proviso that the authorities will permit the goose to make good use of her golden egg, for Dover simply teemswith 'authorities' and they do not always see eye to eye with each other"
