Dear all,
In 2011/12 the Dover District Neighbourhood Forums allocated a total of £59,700 to the five Dover District Neighbourhood Forums to award small capital grants for community projects.
Due to reasons beyond our control one project has been unable to continue and as a result we have £2,000 to allocate to a capital project in the Dover Town area.
We are therefore inviting local voluntary and community organisations to bid for this funding.
The funding must be used for the capital costs of a project, that is to say those involved with the purchase, creation or significant renovation of capital assets. This scheme cannot pay for any running costs associated with your project. If you apply for a grant for the capital cost of your project, you must be able to meet all subsequent running costs from sources available to you. Examples of previous capital projects include renovation projects, purchase of equipment, tree projects and lighting systems.
As we are approaching the end of the financial year this funding has to be allocated as soon as possible and we therefore have a deadline of Friday 24th February at 5.00pm.
Attached is a brief application form which you will need to complete and return to me at this email address or postal address below. After the deadline the Members of the Dover Town Neighbourhood Forum will then score each application and the application with the highest score will receive the funding.
Best of luck and I look forward to hearing from you.

thanks paul, not much time for groups to get together and make an application.
what constitutes a capital project, would tools needed by a voluntary association cover this?

Think tools will be classed as a running cost. Capital would be buildings or large equipment with a long useful life

not sure in this case paul, the sum of money is too small for much more than something like tools.
the running costs would be any repairs, servicing, insurance etc.

I got that email a short time ago. I've asked our (PF) secretary if she has any ideas, but as you say Howard, not much time - just one week.

Similar to what was agreed last year as this is the same pop
Dover Film was a computer
Western Heights the cookhouse building
The Watersports was a boat engine of some sort
Don't forget the group also has to contribute something..... there is members fund grants that covers running costs.
Been nice knowing you :)

Indeed it is capital equipment or assets - hand tools due to their small cost are likely to be classed as revenue expenses

Took quite a while for that money to come through then.
Surely people/community-groups complete those applications because they need the money for a project at that time - not several months later ?

Paul, by "Dover Town Area" I take it that rules out Crabble Corn Mill making any such application? If it does not then how do we get an application form or do we just write in.
Thanks Harry

Dover Town covers:
Wards: Buckland, St Radigund's, Town & Pier, Tower Hamlets, Castle, Maxton, Elms Vale & Priory.
Town & Parish Councils: Dover Town Council
Funding regularly comes round so I expect that from April there will be new funding opportunities available, well worth keeping an eye on this page:

Does anyone know what folded?

Terry - The Sea Sports Centre (the club not the building) went bankrupt and therefore coldnt take up the grant they had been awarded for a new outboard motor

I've had a think Roger but I don't consider that we (PF) need anything at the moment. If we had a permanent office maybe we could have asked for a computer or something but I think we'll struggle to justify anything at the moment. At least we know that there is funding available out there should our circumstances change.
I think we are all guinea pigs in the middle of an experiment for which they have forgotten to set up a control group!
