  The answer to the title of this thread is that generally men don't understand women but tolerate the fairer sex's penchant for shopping, handbags, shoes and pretty shiny things in return for a reasonably quiet life. In my particular case I tolerate my darling wife's little foibles because she has, by far, the rough end of the deal - she has to put up with a grumpy, balding, fat miserable old fart fast approaching the wrong side of 50 whose body is (literally) falling apart and whose idea of nightlife consists of snoring in an armchair pretending to watch telly. She is Wonder Woman just for putting up with that!
  
  90% of my customers are women and I get on very well with many of them and I love the opposite gender in general, but a few friends especially so. I think I'm just eternally grateful that most of them don't vomit on the spot when they first get to know me! I think I'm getting the hang of women but I confess that I will never understand them..........
