  Like Claire I too have a periodic clear-out of the filing cabinet and shredding session. Perseverance is the name of the game. Anyone considering buying a shredder should make sure it's a cross-cut variant. The cheaper ones only cut the paper into strips and, with a little effort, someone could reassemble some important documents.
  
  The resulting waste from a cross-cut shredder can be used for hamster bedding, although if Rick carries on the way he is he might find himself sleeping on sacks of the stuff in the shed!!!
