    I agree Barry, but the best way is for people (parents and children) to realise the benefit of a good education - at whatever school (comprehensive, grammer or academy).

    A good education is generally the key - to a life away from poverty; it will give everyone a better chance of getting a better paid job; apprenticeships and good quality training will help everyone. I'm not talking about everyoner going to Uni, but practical skills too - building-trades can be especially useful.

    To be put on a shortlist for a job and actually getting one can depend on how well you did at school/college. Messing around and playing truant will also keep you in poverty.
