.. in the Conservative Leadership election?
The more I see of the man I did not vote for, David Davis, the more I think so. I perhaps should have stuck to my core beliefs.
Today DD is giving a speech on the economy and will be speaking for most Conservatives in Parliament and out of Parliament and, indeed, for for people of this country.
If what Tim Montgomery says is right about DD's speech then I will agree with every word of it....

not a vote winner is he though barry, great appeal to yourself and other blue stalwarts but would be a total turn off to others.
the current dave is far better at coming across as mainstream in the media, therefore a better electoral bet.

I actually thought that when I voted for him Howard but now I am not so sure. He was elected in the 'good times' so to speak before the economic impact of what was happening was felt and in 'bad times' a different type of leader would appeal.

I did read something yesterday about what he is about to say and the thought passed through my mind that you, Barry, and he get your 'solutions' off the back of the same envelope.
Still, with all this, "call me Dave" stuff, there will be savings on the stationery front if there were to be this change at the top.
Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

I spoke to David Davis a few years ago when he wanted a copy of some work I had done, the force of his personality and intellect was evident just over a short phone call.
I remember him blind-siding the media when he called a press conference after a round of the leadership contest and they all thought he was going to do a public laying-into Cameron when he in fact announced his withdrawal and support for Cameron. I thought then that he was just biding his time and that seems to be the case.
Of course the one group who would dread him being Conservative leader are the LibDems - that tail wouldn't be able to wag this particular dog.

doubt if the yellows would be bothered either way ray, if there is a change of leadership it will be after the next election.

Cameron has lost support / credibility in Westminister now his `disciples`are jumping
ship.
Thatcher`s catalyst of her downfall was the Pool Tax after many unacceptable social
changes....
Cameron`s catalyst for his downfall will be...? after too many social changes.....

I think cameron tried do a BLAIR pleasing the middle classes(and in camerons case the rich) but forgetting all others
cameron made some realy good pre election speeches, but has been found wanting in the real world.,
After so many u turns, now even our barryw is looking at who could be a better leader for the conservative party.
I look around the tory party and theres not to much to choose from, but boris is always out there and i do feel boris although he bluffs his way around he is intelligent, and knows how to play the field, so for my money i think hes probably the one mouse should fear most.
david davis although he may appeal to the right of his party, would he realy go down well enough to get the support of his party let alone the country, i think not.
Clegg has his own problems of clinging onto his own leadership to worry about who replaces cameron.
It does show though the conservatives have lost there way, and are looking now to replace the mouse

Dream on Keith.
There will be no leadership change before the election. I blog today about how Cameron has made things more difficult for himself but that does not mean he is on his way out.

Are you suggesting that Brown was the right man?
That completely incompetent and delusional 'I banned boom and bust' fool who has created the mess the UK is in.

I think Dave's got more in common with this party than the tory party:

There's little to choose between them.

Cameron would have to stand on his mothers shoulders, just to kiss David Davis ass
David Davis comes of the council estates he could appeal to the working man, the majority voter
The labour party is full of middle class, career politician banging the drum for the ethnics' and the expensive public sector, totally out of touch.
