Such a convenient venue being close to both railway station and bus hub in Pencester Gardens.
Ideally placed so those visiting might take the opportunity to visit nearby shops, pubs and eateries.
(Please can we have an emoticon for sarcasm)

Which now puts the cost for the family of four up to £40!

I read the above link and its companion pieces about the pub and the market, very interesting, at least trying to read past the poor grammar and work out how using 'drums as tables' and 'using school doors and tables into the bar' could make the place sophisticated, sounds really confusing to me. At least they've 'upcycled' some of the things, including the original lights. That heavens for that, now they don't sound pretentious at all. (Note of heavy sarcasm there for those who may have missed it.
....also, what is a 'traditional English christmas market' ? Over the many xmasses I have suffered, I can't ever recall seeing one.

Come come Barrie they've got pineapple ice buckets!
The cable drums and tables were already lying around the cruise terminal if i recall correctly, but come on pineapple ice buckets how retro is that!
I don't believe we have ever had a tradition of Xmas markets, Xmas fayres maybe, I'm intrigued to find out.

I think of Germany and Belgium for Christmas markets. If the new bar owners wants to be truly retro a plastic tomato containing ketchup with the associated gunge around the opening would be effective.

Just a bit surprised that they didn't use the word 'authentic'. As for 'sophisticated', they obviously have a very low opinion of Dover people if they think that cable drums will be regarded as sophisticated. I know there's a lot of flint laying around in all that chalk, but its quite a while since us Dovorians sat about knocking two lumps of it together.

Sorry Vic, but I get incensed by people over egging the pudding when they try and hype up their product. They assume that their potential customers are dull witted primitives, and we are told that using cable drums as tables is sophisticated. It isn't. Its a temporary bar put up for the duration of the ice rink, and they've painted the old lampshades. Its not news, its just another money making scheme. I'll happily accept that it may well be a good couple of hours out for a family (those that can afford it) but please don't tell me not to have an opinion about anything, you've made loads of posts in the past that I haven't agreed with, but I have always respected your right to an opinion.

I believe the parking is free, but there is a charge for the shuttle bus service.
