I feel it is time that individuals who hold up regeneration for whatever reason, be it laziness, selfishness, greed or whataver, should be named and shamed.

Brian, not when it is a perfectly sound but tatty building, if the work was not started within a couple of months I would go for compulsory purchase.

naming and shaming doesn't work in the worst cases as the owners live very far away(sometimes abroad) and really don't care.
compulsory purchase is one way but can prove expensive - for example a hotel in dover is opposing an order at present, holding up work on the dtiz.

a lot of work has been going on behind the scenes from various agencies including the town and district councils also the dover society.
the two main sticking points are the house in athol terrace pictured earlier in the thread and the awful looking pub pictured today.

It also looks like the property next door needs sorting out.

Nudging the reluctant in to action is one thing, but persecution is quite another. There are many issues on this subject

always stacks of bags left out there but the place looks uninhabited.
there is a passageway not in the photo normally with bags of rubbish there.

persecution is not such a bad thing simon, we would never have had the spanish inquisition without it.

There are many far worse looking buildings than the very popular Louis Armstrong.

The building next door doesn't help the overall appearance.
